What’s Stopping You From Having LASIK?

Wearing glasses or contacts can be such a drag. If you wear them, you know the hassles. You probably already know about LASIK, but there’s something stopping you from having it.

What is it? Whatever it is, it can’t be better than having permanently clear vision. Keep reading to learn why having LASIK is way better!

You’re scared

Any kind of procedure or surgery can be scary. But LASIK doesn’t have to be scary. First of all, your eyes are completely numbed before the procedure starts, so you’ll never feel a thing.

Second, it doesn’t take very long at all to perform. Third, you need to have a lot of experience to call yourself a LASIK surgeon, so not just anyone can perform LASIK. It’s natural to be nervous, though.

Why not use your fear to propel you forward instead? Letting your fear hold you back from something as incredible as clear vision is almost a crime. Why would you want to continue wearing glasses or contacts when you could have a chance to say goodbye to them for good?

It seems too good to be true

What's the catch

For a lot of things in life, if it seems too good to be true, it usually is. When it comes to LASIK, things really are as they seem. This is a procedure that will permanently correct your vision.

How is this possible? LASIK works because it involves reshaping your cornea and then fixes your refractive errors.

This includes nearsightedness, farsightedness, and even astigmatism. Reshaping the cornea is a permanent thing.

Now, it is important to understand that LASIK cannot treat any future vision problems. So, you’ll probably still develop problems like cataracts or presbyopia when you’re older.

But when you have LASIK, you can look forward to decades and decades of clear vision without needing glasses or contacts to see!

You don’t want to go into debt to pay for LASIK

You’re this close to pulling the trigger after having your LASIK consultation and finding out you’re a good candidate for the procedure, but you can’t do it. The cost is the thing that’s holding you back.

Yes, LASIK can seem like a lot to pay for, since it’s an elective procedure. Paying out of pocket for clear vision can seem a little counterintuitive.

But when was the last time you invested in yourself? A procedure like LASIK is one of the best ways to give back to yourself and save money at the same time.

How? Well, consider this. On average, most Americans spend an average of $500 every year on glasses, contacts, and their accessories.

Considering that’s the average, there’s a very good chance that you’re actually paying more than that. What if you no longer had to pay $500 or more every year to take care of your eyes?

What if you could spend that money on something else? Like a downpayment on your first house? Or opening your dream business in downtown Orlando?

It sounds a little crazy, but sometimes, a little extra money in your pocket can be enough to make your wildest dreams come true! Of course, the best part would be that you would finally have clear vision as well!

Did we also mention that LASIK typically pays for itself after only 2 years? If you’re concerned about how you’ll pay for LASIK, you can always consider financing.

This is the most common way that patients pay for their procedures. Herschel LASIK and Cataract Institute offer many ways for patients to finance their LASIK procedures, so contact us to learn more.

You don’t want to take the time off work to recover

How can you have a procedure like LASIK and go back to work after only a day or two? It seems impossible!

But LASIK has one of the fastest recovery times for refractive procedures. It’s one of the reasons why people choose LASIK, over and over again.

LASIK is not an invasive procedure and as long as you follow the instructions your surgeon provides you with, you can go back to work the next day. Right after LASIK, the best thing you can do is rest your eyes for a few hours at home.

They may be more sensitive than normal and may feel dry. But the next day, don’t be surprised if you start seeing the world in a whole new light already!

There’s a reason that LASIK has a 96% satisfaction rate with patients that have had it. That reason is that LASIK works.

You’re not sure if you’re a candidate

Maybe LASIK sounds like it could be a great procedure but you don’t know if you would be a candidate for it. Here are some of the most common factors that go into LASIK candidacy:

To have LASIK, you need to be at least 18 years old. Before this age, there’s a strong possibility that your eyes are still changing. Performing LASIK on someone whose eyes are not stable is not a good idea. If you’re under 18 years old, you’ll have to wait before you can safely have LASIK.

Stable prescription:

Besides age, you must have a stable prescription that’s remained unchanged for at least a year. Most LASIK surgeons want a patient that has a prescription that’s been stable for two years to be safe.

Not currently pregnant or nursing:

During pregnancy, there are many hormonal changes going on as your body adapts. One thing that can change is your vision.

It can take quite some time before your vision goes back to normal. For this reason, you cannot have LASIK if you’re currently pregnant or nursing. You should wait at least three months after you’ve completed nursing before having LASIK.

Thick enough corneas:

During your LASIK consultation at Herschel LASIK and Cataract Institute, you’ll have the thickness of your corneas measured. This is a necessary part of the procedure, as LASIK does involve removing a small amount of corneal tissue to reshape the cornea.

If your corneas are too thin, removing even a tiny amount of tissue can lead to serious complications.

Don’t let your fears and worries stand in your way of finally having the clear vision you’ve always wanted. Schedule a LASIK consultation at Herschel LASIK and Cataract Institute in Orlando, FL to find out if you could be a LASIK candidate!

Those who know choose Herschel LASIK and Cataract Institute

Beautiful office. Amazing and caring staff. Getting my surgery done Saturday and the Doctor and the staff helped choose the right option for me and I didn't feel pushed to commit. One of the only few who commits the patient to a dry eye treatment as per my research. Post-surgery I hope to keep my 5 star rating because I have nothing bad to say!

I recently did my LASIK procedure about 1 week ago and was completely blown away from beginning to end with the SERVICE received from the entire staff at Herschel LASIK. The office is beautifully decorated and the staff was always professional, personable, knowledgeable and friendly. I particularly enjoyed the way that everything was explained clearly before, during and after my procedure and questions were always encouraged and answered. My experience was the best encounter to date with a physician. Excellent doctor + excellent support staff +excellent service = excellent experience and a happy customer. Thank you so much Dr. Herschel, Doris and Francesca.

Great service, sometimes a bit of a wait, but I take a full lobby as a sign of a well recommended doctor. Staff is friendly & quick to answerphones & squeeze me in when I got an eye problem. Would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting to get LASIK. Doctor even personally called to check on me the night after my procedure.

I got my LASIK procedure done here. I was apprehensive, mostly because anything to do with my eyes kind of freaked me out.
I went under a free consultation. The nurses/assistants were very nice and they answered any questions I had. Then I met Dr. Herschel and he was very nice and understanding. He explained all that would happen, how everything works, how long recovery will be, everything.
So, I agreed and start the process. I love the fact you always meet with Dr. Herschel at every appointment.
I now have 20/20 vision.
I'd highly recommend going to him for all of your vision needs.

Great surgeon and great staff. Do your research, Dr. Herschel is more than just a LASIK surgeon. He is certified and specializes in all areas of eye surgery so have peace of mind that you are getting one of the best. They use current technology and machines. More so, if your eyes aren’t ready for surgery he has no problem delaying 1-2 weeks until they are 100% good-to-go. He will not risk your health for the sake of money.
